Exporting Max file into Substance

  • make sure high poly is overlapping low poly
  • this ensure that maps are projected correctly (i.e. normals, bump maps, etc.)



Exporting
  • Export as an .FBX file
  • Settings: Smoothing groups, Triangulate and Preserve Wedge Orientation

Assigning Color IDs







  • If you apply the Material Multi/Sub Object to your meshes, the material IDs will appear when you import into Substance Painter.
