Exporting Max file into Substance
- make sure high poly is overlapping low poly
- this ensure that maps are projected correctly (i.e. normals, bump maps, etc.)
Exporting
- Export as an .FBX file
- Settings: Smoothing groups, Triangulate and Preserve Wedge Orientation
Assigning Color IDs
- If you apply the Material Multi/Sub Object to your meshes, the material IDs will appear when you import into Substance Painter.
